When we’re going through tough times, it’s easy to get discouraged.
We all worry about our health, our families, our finances, and the future. Believers aren’t immune to these anxieties.
When life is spinning out of control, we often feel overwhelmed. We wonder where God is in our difficulties.
What we need is a different perspective.
I’m not suggesting we put on rose-coloured glasses, but rather heart-shaped ones.
The beating heart of God resounds with love for His children.
When we reflect on God’s unfailing love for us, it changes everything. Understanding this love transforms the way we view our circumstances, and our problems get put into the proper perspective.
Reminders of God’s love for us permeate the Bible. I love how Romans 8:39 puts it:
“…neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
God’s unfathomable love is steadfast and eternal. It isn’t based on how we perform: it’s based on our position in Christ. No matter what we’re facing, we can be assured of God’s constant love for us.
When we truly grasp this truth, our troubles fade and shrink in comparison. We realize that nothing is too big for God to handle, or too small for Him to notice. We can exhale and rest in His strong arms.

In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus issues a beautiful invitation:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
When we’re going through struggles, it’s so reassuring to know that as believers we have access to God’s peace, which transcends all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
The love of God isn’t something that’s distant and inaccessible; it’s close by and active. God promises to walk with us through whatever we’re facing, holding us and helping us.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)
Our struggles don’t vanish, but we know that we’re not going through them alone. Jesus promised in Matthew 28:20 that He will be with us always.
Listen to the Apostle Paul’s encouragement in Ephesians 3:17-19, when he prays that:
“…you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
The unwavering love of God is the foundation of our faith, our anchor in stormy waters, and the wellspring of our strength.

Whatever you’re going through today, know that God’s love is greater than your circumstances. When you shift your focus away from the size of your problems to the immensity of God’s love for you, you’ll find hope and courage to soldier on.
So put on those heart-shaped glasses, and view life through the lens of the unchanging, immeasurable, passionate love of God!
