They say that it’s impossible for bumble bees to fly.

The theory goes that their weight and size are too great for their tiny wings to support, so according to the laws of aerodynamics they shouldn’t be able to get off the ground.

The only problem is, no one has told the bumble bees that.

They seem to have no difficulty in buzzing about in the air from flower to flower, collecting pollen and nectar to bring back to the hive.

So how do they do it, when physics would seem to suggest that they can’t?

For a long time, this was a mystery to us. Eventually we discovered that bumble bees actually don’t defy the laws of aviation: they simply fly in a different way than a plane or bird does.

We learned that the propeller-like way they beat their wings creates an invisible force above them, like a mini-tornado or -hurricane. This vortex actually sucks them upward, giving them lift in spite of their weight.

There was more going on than met the eye, which allowed the “impossible” to happen.

Likewise, when we believe in God, there is more going on in our lives than we’re aware of.

When God is working in your life, sometimes He will cause the impossible to happen, even when you can’t see how it could.

We see ample evidence of this in the Bible. Five loaves and two fish were miraculously multiplied to feed thousands. Manna fell from the sky. The blind were given their sight back, the lame were able to walk again, some walked on water, and the dead were even raised back to life.

According to natural laws, all of these things should be impossible.

But with God, there is more going on than meets the eye. He can create invisible forces around you which alter your circumstances, defying what anyone thought was possible. The situation you thought was hopeless can turn around, with His help.

He does the same for us spiritually, too.

It might seem impossible that your sins could be wiped away and forgotten by God, let alone that you could have the perfect record of Christ imputed to you. This would seem to defy everything you know about how the world works.

But once again, the “impossible” has happened.

God loves you so much that He sent His son Jesus to die for you on a cross. Jesus was buried and then rose to life again, so that your sins could be buried and you could rise anew spiritually to a life of freedom and purpose in Him.

What you thought was unimaginable and unattainable is actually within your reach. There is nothing too hard for God!

So call out to God, put your trust in Him, and believe in Jesus’ work on the cross on your behalf.

Let Him work a miracle in you through His saving power.

And then take flight, and watch God do wonderful things in your life!

“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Matthew 19:26
